I'd like to thank the academy

I love awards season. The red carpet, the awkward speeches, the rush to see as many of the movies as you can possibly see. I love it all, and this year is no exception.

Last week they announced the Oscar Nominees--so exciting.

And the nominees are:
Best Picture (Out of what I've seen so far, I like Moneyball the best)
  • "The Artist"
  • "The Descendants"
  • "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close"
  • "Hugo"
  • "Midnight in Paris"
  • "The Help"
  • "Moneyball"
  • "War Horse"
  • "The Tree of Life"
Best Actor (So far, I'd give it to Brad)
  • Demian Bichir, "A Better Life"
  • George Clooney, "The Descendants"
  • Jean Dujardin, "The Artist"
  • Gary Oldman, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"
  • Brad Pitt, "Moneyball"

  • Glenn Close, "Albert Nobbs"
  • Viola Davis, "The Help"
  • Rooney Mara, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"
  • Meryl Streep, "The Iron Lady"
  • Michelle Williams, "My Week With Marilyn"

  • Jonah Hill, "Moneyball"
  • Nick Nolte, "Warrior"

  • Janet McTeer, "Albert Nobbs"
  • Octavia Spencer, "The Help"
Best Director (Definitely Alexander Payne)
  • Woody Allen, "Midnight in Paris"
  • Michel Hazanavicius, "The Artist"
  • Terrence Malick, "The Tree of Life"

  • JC Chandor, "Margin Call"
  • Asghar Farhadi, "A Separation"
  • Michel Hazanavicius, "The Artist"
  • Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, "Bridesmaids"
Best Adapted Screenplay (I loved the Ides of March of Moneyball)
  • Alexander Payne, Nat Faxton, Jim Rash, "The Descendants"
  • John Logan, "Hugo"
  • George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Beau Willimon, "The Ides of March"
  • Aaron Sorkin, Steven Zaillian, "Moneyball"
  • Bridget O'Connor, Peter Straughn, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"

I've seen:

The Descendants (I thought the teenage daughter was the best of the lot)
Bridesmaids (I'm the only person in the world who was not a fan of this movie, but the humor just didn't hit me right)
The Help (Liked the movie much more than the book)
Moneyball (I actually liked this a LOT)
The Tree of Life (I hated this, it made me feel kind of stupid...)
The Ides of March (SO good...)

I plan to try to see: The Artist, Hugo, Tinker Tailor, My Week with Marilyn, Iron Lady, Midnight in Paris and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close... we'll see how far I get. :)
