Cover-up
Guys. You know how I feel about covers. Let's start out 2013 with a couple strong contenders.
Yuna is a beautiful singer, and this cover of a great Frank Ocean song turns it into something new. A little softer, a little more intimate. Something you want to listen to one more time.
I know. I have a weakness for the kids as PS22, but this cover of Tame Impala "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" is just such a good one. And who hasn't felt like this? Whether you're in 5th grade or 30 years old, sometimes it feels like every step forward is really just in the wrong direction. It's nice to be reminded that everyone at all ages feels like that sometimes.
Rihanna. Love her. Here's a great cover of her song "We Found Love in a Hopeless Place" (which I hope against hope is not about her horrible ex-boyfriend who is so terrible I won't even write is name. People who physically assault women should be put on a island Lord of the Flies style). Here's a sweet folksy cover of her song BY A RED HEAD. Woot!
(And here's a hilarious link to a certain someone from a certain TV show hilariously lip synching to it. Ha.)
