I saw Billy Joel in concert once. At Madison Square Garden. I was poor and living in NYC. I called my dad to ask for the $100 for the ticket. (My three friends were going and it was too soon for me to squirrel away money.) Sometimes dads just know when you need a pick me up. It was one of the best concerts ever. Billy sang all of his classics. We sang along with him. It felt like the essence of NYC was there that night. We were New Yorkers at MSG. It was one of those New York moments I'll hang onto forever.
